I'll Huff, and I'll Puff, and I'll Blow Your House In!

The Three Little Pigs

Each student got a paper with a little pig on cardstock taped to it.  They got a bag of 9 Dots (I bought boxes of the candy at the Dollar Tree) and access to toothpicks.   The object was to build a house to withstand the huffing and puffing of the big bad wolf (a hairdryer.)

I set everything up before the students came in.

1st grade students generally build buildings that went up...

Another 1st grade structure.

Kindergarten students built houses that weren't connected and they also weren't as successful.

Everybody had fun and this is definitely a project that I will do again in the future!

Dragon's Extraordinary Egg

This was an amazing book!

I loved it, my students loved it and my 6 year old son loved it!  What more can I say?  Here is what we did in library...

In 3rd and 4th grade we made origami penguins

Origami Penguin display with Non-Fiction and Fiction penguin books.

While my group did origami, the other group of students watched a video from the author/illustrator, Debi Gliori.

In 1st/2nd Grade, the student wrote penguin facts and drew pictures to go along with their fact.

In my Pre-K/Kindergarten class, we drew penguins and made a winter display to show off our handiwork :)
